What’s Wrong With The Bible? 4/20/08 -Free Will To The Tenth Caller!
Today we’re going to look at Free Will as viewed by the Bible. Now, according to the Bible, when Man was created God gave him Free Will.
Deut. 30:19:
“19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
That meant that he could make whatever choice he wanted, even bad ones like believing in God.
It does seem that God changes his tune, though. Let’s look at 2 Thess. 2:13:
“13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:”
Ok, so God decides he has some favorite people who will definitely go to Heaven. That’s not too bad. If you’re the creator of everything, who’ll begrudge you making sure some of your buddies are on the list? The only problem is with Jude 1:4:
“4For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.”
Heeeey! There are people who are condemned to Hell before they’re even born. That doesn’t sound very fair. I thought he was “a just God and a Saviour” (Isaiah 45:21). You don’t get to condemn people to Hell before they even exist and call yourself “Just”. I’m afraid I’ll have to revoke your God card. Thank you, next! Ah, Mr. Allah, how nice to see you!
